Alabama Safari Park

The Alabama Safari Park has 350 acres to tour safely from your vehicle. Fulfill your dream of feeding a giraffe from the giraffe tower. Play with your favorite farm animals in the petting zoo. Enjoy the lazy antics of the zoo’s newest friends in the sloth exhibit. Then head over to the Kangaroo Walk-About to stroll amongst the moms and their joeys. The fun can be had 9:00 am - 5:00 pm seven days per week from March 1 - October 31.

U.S. Space and Rocket Center

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, has one of the largest displays of rockets in the world. Get your crew back to earth safely in a 20-minute mission in the Discovery Shuttle simulator or the Discovery Shuttle Mission Control. Earthly highflyers can test their skills in an F-18 Super Hornet flight simulator experience. You can even train as an astronaut in a weightless underwater astronaut training session. The Center is open seven days per week.

Children’s Hands-On Museum

Tuscaloosa is home to the Children’s Hands-On Museum. The museum is geared towards children under the age of 13 years old. Have fun while learning a little. The museum boasts a replica Choctaw Indian Village over 300 years old. There are games to play, jewelry to make, and pottery to mold. Or perhaps the past few years of the COVID pandemic have made your youngster curious about hospitals. The DCH Health System exhibit allows your child to become a doctor or a nurse for the day. They can read x-rays, check your reflexes and look after babies in the nursery. Explore all the exhibits Tuesdays - Saturdays, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Alabama Adventure and Splash Adventure Parks

Who doesn’t love a water park? At the Alabama Adventure and Splash Adventure Parks, you will enjoy free inner tubes to use on the lazy river attractions. Complimentary life jackets are provided for the newer swimmers in your family. With 25 attractions, there is a ride or slide for everyone in the family to enjoy. Or kick back and relax while watching the Wild West Dive Show or the Aqua-Batic Stunt Show. The fun kicks off this April.

DeSoto Caverns

This is the place to be for those looking for unusual adventures. DeSoto Caverns offer guided tours through the Healing-All Cathedral room, the onyx room, and a passageway behind a natural waterfall. In addition, you can take in the underground laser light and water show. The caverns are a bucket list experience that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. If the caves are not enough, you may also try your luck in the Lost Trail Maze or panning for gemstones. There are so many things to do at the DeSoto Caverns that you may want to consider staying nearby to make a multi-day visit easier to manage.
